Allen Hunt to Convert to the Catholic Church

H/T Tiber Jumper:

Allen Hunt, a pastor of the third largest Methodist Church in the USA, has announced his upcoming river crossing. He also has a successful AM radio talk show here.
From Hunt's blog (it's a shame to see all the negative comments there):
"After much prayer and meditation over the past six months, I have shared with Bishop Lindsey Davis that I am relinquishing my status as an ordained United Methodist pastor in the North Georgia Conference. This deeply personal decision reflects my sense that God has called me to serve in a new mission role. Moreover, I believe that God has led me to a new spiritual home in the Catholic Church, so I have made provision to be received as a member into that Church."

Which would be the better read for Allen Hunt?

Heh.. Both cartoons seem equally retarded. I'm sure he'd get a laugh out of either but I'd have to say Tiber's post since if he clicks anywhere else on the site he has a good chance of stumbling on to truth whereas I can't say the same thing for Mr. Chick's.

Anyway, he's an accomplished pastor I don't think he needs to be reading cartoons to get his theology.

I am not shocked at all to hear this news. Allen Hunt has been promoting this pagan institution (i.e. the Roman Catholic Church) for some time now.

Kenneth, maybe instead of blindly bashing an institution (especially one that claims to be founded by Jesus Christ and actually has all the historical credibility to back that claim up) perhaps you should study it a bit.

After all, Mr. Hunt and all the hundreds and hundreds of Protestant clergy over the last decade (i.e. your most educated) just might have some valid reasons behind their conversion.

I can't speak for the hundreds of clergy or thousands and thousands of lay people who converted but I can speak for myself: I was as ignorant as you are now about the Catholic Church at one time - I hated her as much as you do at one time, and I sure never envisioned myself converting to (what I thought was) a pagan institution.

Now I'm Catholic, and I realize how utterly wrong I was. I hope you'll have the humility to second guess yourself for long enough to learn the truth.

Peace and happy Ash Wednesday. BTW, you may find this post helpful for starters regarding Paganism in Catholicism.

I hate it when Protestants and Roman Catholics argue. This isn't the Inquisition or the Reformation folks. Can't we all love one another?

I am very familiar with the Roman Catholic Church. It is not the "Church" - the "sole Church of Christ" - but a sham, based solely on traditions and pagan worship (e.g. Eucharistic adoration and the belief that Jesus is in the bread, parading Mary - a statue - around on the shoulders of Blue Army volunteers and praying to it as if she (it) could hear you, etc.) There is no true in her. The Great Whore sits enthroned, calling the "whole of humanity" to herself." (CCC 845) Are Muslims a part of the plan of salvation? According to CCC 841, they are:
The Church's relationship with the Muslims.
"The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

You may have a pope, bishops and cardinals allied with him, the vestments and the buildings, but the Spirit of Christ is far from you if you're going to believe that salvation is through the Church. The "wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life" in Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:23)

Correction: There is no truth in her.

Kenneth - Calling my mother a whore isn't the best way to start a conversation. Lets try again shall we?

Jesus loves all of us. The Catholic Church is the Church that Jesus started.

Some of you saying the Catholic Church is the true church. The first...Let me ask you this...who was wiser.....the popes or Jesus?...Peter was married....Jesus said, call no man rabbi...or Father.....all aposyles have one coomon thread..they SAW Jesus.....why did the disciples argue at the last supper about who was the greatest?...The virgin birth is biblical...not emaculate conception..One said that protestants are converted..do you know how many Catholics have?...The church is where two or more gather in Jesus's name...learn that Catholics...quickly
